Police say they’ve shut down an illegal cannabis growing operation in Brampton, seizing nearly 4,000 cannabis plants and more than $1.5 million worth of cannabis.
The operation was uncovered on Aug. 4 at a commercial unit on Rutherford Road South during a separate investigation. Health Canada confirmed the property had no cannabis licence or registration.
The next day, officers carried out another warrant search and uncovered:
- Nearly 4,000 cannabis plants
- More than 23 kg of processed cannabis
- $600 in Canadian cash
Two Brampton-area men, aged 38 and 43, were arrested and charged under the Cannabis Act with possession for the purpose of distributing and unauthorized cultivation.
Both were released and are scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 3 in Toronto.
