Canada’s deportation numbers are climbing, and Indian nationals are now at the top of the list.
According to CBSA data, Canada removed 3,323 Indian nationals between January and June 2026—already nearly 88% of the 3,779 deported throughout all of 2025.
If this pace continues, 2026 could set a new annual record.
Why are deportations increasing?
The rise comes as Canada tightens immigration enforcement and works to reduce temporary residents, including international students and temporary workers.
Removals can involve immigration violations, failed asylum claims, visa overstays, and immigration fraud.
🇮🇳 Indians Overtake Mexicans
Indians recorded 3,323 removals, compared with 1,573 Mexican nationals during the same period. Mexico had topped Canada’s deportation list for the previous five years.
With half the year still remaining, Canada’s 2026 deportation numbers could climb even further.
