Brampton businesses donating meals to first responders amid COVID-19 outbreak

With most people listening to experts and self-isolating in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak, many businesses in Brampton have been forced to close.

Many of these businesses include Brampton restaurants; and although several of them are offering take-out and delivery options, the inability to have guests dine-in has ultimately impacted them negatively.

While many businesses have been stepping up to offer services for the community, these particular Brampton businesses decided to help the first responders during this difficult time.

Firehouse Subs, a U.S.-based, fast-casual restaurant chain founded by former firefighter brothers Robin and Chris Sorensen, has several locations across Ontario.

To thank first responders for their service during these unprecedented times, local Firehouse Subs Franchisees, Adam Preston and Patrick Morris, partnered with Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada to donate over 1,000 meals to local first responders and emergency personnel, including police, firefighters, and paramedics at Toronto Fire Services, Toronto Police and Peel Regional Paramedic Services.

Preston and Morris own three Firehouse Subs franchises together, one in Toronto and two in Brampton.

“We’ve always been thankful for the first responders who risk their lives daily to serve our communities. We’ve gotten to know a few of them who frequent our restaurants and thank them personally,” said Preston.

“Now, more than ever, we’re honored to do our part to support them however we can.”

While their Toronto location often donates to local fire stations, their Brampton restaurants, located at 8205 Financial Dr., Unit 2 and at 90 Resolution Dr., Unit 103a, have been donating meals to local heroes.

“Public safety is at the heart of everything we do at Firehouse Subs,” said Morris.

“Providing hot, hearty meals that will give these local heroes the strength they need to do their jobs effectively and keep our communities safe is a priority to us. It’s the least we can do for them.”

During these difficult times, Firehouse Subs restaurant owners in Ontario have partnered with Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada to help feed first responders and healthcare workers, as well as individuals, seniors and families in need through a dedicated COVID-19 Disaster Relief Fund.

Since March 18, 2020, Firehouse Subs restaurants in Canada and Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada have donated over 4,000 subs through a COVID-19 relief fund and the number of meals donated is growing every day.
