Windsor Wins Big: Stellantis Crosses 1,000-Hire Mark for New Assembly Shift

Stellantis says it has crossed a major hiring milestone, bringing on more than 1,000 new workers for a planned third shift at its Windsor Assembly Plant. The company expects to hire up to 1,500 employees in total before the additional shift officially launches in early 2026.

Along with the new hires, nearly 240 workers from the Brampton assembly plant have transferred to Windsor. The move follows Stellantis’ decision earlier this year to cancel plans to build a new Jeep model in Brampton, a change that left about 3,000 workers without a vehicle to assemble.

The Windsor plant has recently started production of the 2026 Dodge Charger, including gas-powered SIXPACK models and all-electric Charger Daytona versions. It also continues to build popular minivans such as the Chrysler Pacifica, Voyager, and Grand Caravan.

Stellantis states that it remains committed to its Canadian operations and is collaborating with government and labour partners to support long-term employment. Meanwhile, Brampton workers affected by the production pause will continue to receive partial pay and benefits as the company works on plans for the plant’s future.
