Fires Set Overnight Across Peel Region as Brampton Faces Wave of Suspected Arsons

Peel Regional Police are investigating a pair of suspected arson incidents that unfolded overnight in Brampton and Mississauga, raising concerns in the region.

Officers were first called to a residential fire near Erin Mills Parkway and Eglinton Avenue West around 12:30 a.m. Sunday. No injuries were reported, police said. Fire officials noted that a neighbour raised the alarm, prompting a rapid response that brought the fire under control and ensured occupants were safely evacuated.

Just an hour later, around 1:30 a.m., police responded to a second fire — this time involving a vehicle near Queen Street East and Rutherford Road in Brampton. Police confirmed the car was empty at the time, and no one was hurt.

Peel police have confirmed both fires are being treated as arson, though investigators say there is no indication the two incidents are connected at this point. The investigations remain ongoing as authorities work to determine what sparked the overnight fires.
