Renters in Brampton saw a small break last month as the average asking rent for one- and two-bedroom units dropped slightly, following a larger decline across Ontario.
According to the latest National Rent Report from Rentals.ca and Urbanation, the average rent for a one-bedroom apartment in Brampton was $2,009 in October, down $39 from $2,048 in September. Two-bedroom rentals also dipped $21, from $2,409 to $2,388.

Across all property types, the average rent in Brampton came in at $2,269. The city ranked 17th among Canada’s most expensive rental markets — just behind Halifax ($2,289) and slightly ahead of Victoria ($2,268).
Nationally, apartment rents fell more than 1%, while Ontario saw a 2.2% drop. The biggest declines were recorded in British Columbia (down 5.8%) and Alberta (down 5.3%).
The report also shows that compared to two years ago, average rents in Ontario are down 7.5%.
Across Canada, one-bedroom apartments saw the largest yearly decrease — down 3.4% to $1,822, which is $187 less than Brampton’s average. Three-bedroom units remained relatively stable, falling just 0.2% to $2,539, while four-bedroom rentals continue to be the most expensive at $2,944.
Studio apartments averaged $1,610 nationwide after a 1.5% yearly drop, and two-bedroom units averaged $2,200, marking a 1.7% decrease across Canada.
