Peel Regional Police have laid first-degree murder charges against three men following a fatal shooting at a Brampton mall parking lot earlier this month. Police say two 20-year-olds from Brampton and a 25-year-old from Toronto were charged after an extensive investigation into the incident.
The shooting occurred on Dec. 8 near Shoppers World on Main Street, where 25-year-old Brampton resident Jaskarn Dhaliwal was found shot inside a vehicle. Investigators say several shots were fired before the suspects fled the scene prior to officers arriving.
Police have confirmed all three suspects are now in custody, and there are no other individuals being sought in connection with the case. Authorities believe the shooting was an isolated incident and say there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The accused are expected to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton for bail hearings. Police initially declined to release the victim’s identity but later confirmed it following media requests.
