Two people are dead and four others are in critical condition after a major house fire in Brampton early Thursday morning. Emergency crews rushed to the area of McLaughlin Road and Remembrance Road just after 2:15 a.m. following multiple 911 calls.
Police say two adults were pronounced dead at the scene, while four others — including a young child — were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Investigators believe up to 11 people are connected to the home, including a multi-generational family. Three people, including a child, are still unaccounted for, though officers say reports are still unclear.
Brampton Fire Chief Andy Glynn said the blaze caused part of the roof to collapse, making it difficult for crews to get inside. One victim was found inside the home and another outside. Nearby houses also suffered damage, but no one else was injured.
Police say it’s too early to know whether the fire is suspicious. The Ontario Fire Marshal has now taken over the investigation.
