A 62-year-old man from Brampton has been running a major drug trafficking network that moved millions of dollars’ worth of narcotics from the U.S. into Canada — all within just one month.

According to U.S. officials, Guramrit Sidhu pleaded guilty to leading a criminal enterprise responsible for smuggling massive quantities of methamphetamine and cocaine across the border. Investigators say the operation handled over 800 kilograms of drugs, valued at up to $17 million CAD.

Authorities revealed that the drugs were transported using long-haul semi-trucks, with carefully coordinated delivery systems — even using coded “tokens” like phone numbers and marked bills to confirm exchanges. Once in Canada, the shipments were picked up and distributed further by the network.

The operation reportedly ran between 2020 and 2023. Sidhu was arrested in early 2024, extradited to the U.S. later that year, and now faces a minimum of 20 years in federal prison — with the possibility of life behind bars. His sentencing is set for July 9.

Officials also confirmed he’s the seventh person to plead guilty in this large-scale investigation, with others already sentenced to prison terms.
