Canada Commits $2.5 Billion in Economic Aid to Support Ukraine

Prime Minister Mark Carney condemned Russia’s latest missile and drone attacks on Ukraine and announced $2.5 billion in new economic support, speaking alongside Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a brief stop near Halifax.

Carney said the attacks on Kyiv show why Canada must continue standing with Ukraine. The new funding will help Ukraine rebuild its critical infrastructure and unlock billions more in international financing through partners such as the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.

Zelenskyy thanked Canada for its strong backing, saying the latest strikes prove Russia is not serious about peace. Canada has supported Ukraine since the war began in 2022 and remains committed to helping Ukraine defend its freedom, democracy, and sovereignty.
