20-Year-Old Arrested After Alleged Firearm Threat Near Brampton Transit Stop

Peel Regional Police have arrested a 20-year-old Brampton man following a frightening incident near a local transit stop early Friday morning.

Police say the incident unfolded around 1 a.m. on Dec. 27, near Chinguacousy and Drinkwater roads, after a victim got off a bus and noticed they were being followed. Investigators allege the suspect approached the victim and claimed he had a firearm.

The victim quickly contacted police, who located the suspect nearby. During the encounter, officers say the accused tossed an imitation firearm into a snowbank.

Police arrested Jagdeep Singh of Brampton, who now faces charges including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.

Officers also say Singh was carrying a backpack containing rope, tape, gloves, and two knives at the time of his arrest. He remains in custody and is being held pending a bail hearing.
