Brampton Streets Shut Down After Early-Morning Water Main Burst

A major water main break in Brampton caused road closures early Thursday after a planned repair turned into an unexpected burst. Crews were already preparing to fix a leak near Queen Street East and Central Park Drive when the line gave way overnight, flooding the area.

Central Park Drive is shut down between Queen Street East and Hanover Road, with westbound traffic reduced to one lane. Peel police are urging drivers to steer clear while repair teams work on-site.

The flooding happened because snow-blocked catch basins stopped the water from draining, but they’ve since been cleared. Peel Region says some nearby homes are without water, but service should return to most addresses this morning. Full repairs are expected to take most of the day.
