A routine traffic stop in Caledon quickly turned serious after OPP officers spotted a commercial truck travelling on a “no truck route.”
Caledon OPP says officers stopped the truck around noon Tuesday near Mountainview Road and Escarpment Sideroad. During the stop, officers suspected the 33-year-old Brampton driver had been drinking.
Following an impaired driving investigation, the driver was charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired, having liquor readily available while driving, and disobeying a traffic sign.
The driver is scheduled to appear in court in late September. His vehicle has been impounded for seven days, while his licence has been suspended for 90 days.
