Gas Leak Emergency in Brampton: Residents Evacuated

Several residents were evacuated from a Brampton street Sunday afternoon after an active gas leak was reported near Seaborn Road and Bingham Road.

Peel Regional Police called it a “dangerous condition” and said the leak was found at the rear of a residential unit. As a precaution, all homes on the street were evacuated.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

Brampton Fire and Emergency Services and Enbridge Gas crews were called in and worked to contain and repair the leak. Police asked the public to avoid the area while emergency crews responded.

The incident was reported around 4:48 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 6. Police later confirmed that no transit routes were affected.

Repairs were expected to take approximately two to three hours.
