Brampton Border Bust: Thousands of Illegal Cigarettes & Rx Drugs Seized in Police Operation

Police have seized a large stash of illegal cigarettes, prescription drugs, and cash during a raid just north of Brampton.

The investigation began earlier this fall after the OPP received tips about possible drug trafficking in New Tecumseth, about 60 km from Brampton. On Wednesday, officers from the Nottawasaga, Caledon, and Dufferin detachments searched a property linked to the case.

During the search, police say they found Oxycodone, Lorazepam, Tramadol, Trazodone, nearly 14,000 illegal cigarettes, and around $2,000 in cash.

A woman from Adjala-Tosorontio, 66-year-old Tena Clarke, has been charged with:

Possession of a Schedule I substance for trafficking
Trafficking a Schedule I substance
Trafficking in contraband tobacco

She is expected to appear in court on February 19.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Anonymous tips can also be sent to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or through their website. Crime Stoppers tipsters stay anonymous, do not need to testify, and may receive a reward of up to $2,000.
