Brampton, Ont. — Two Brampton restaurants were handed conditional passes by Peel Public Health following recent food safety inspections.
New India Curry Mahal, located at 80 Pertosa Dr., Units 15–16, was inspected on Oct. 27 and found not in compliance in several key areas. Violations included improper food storage, lack of potable water, insufficient handwashing stations, missing supplies, poor housekeeping, and absence of a certified food handler during operation.
Brocode Era, at 1 Wexford Rd., Unit 1, was inspected on Oct. 22 and cited for multiple issues, including unsanitary conditions, inadequate handwashing facilities, ventilation problems, and improper food storage. A reinspection on Oct. 27 showed improvements, and the restaurant subsequently received a pass.
Peel Public Health uses a green, yellow, and red grading system to inform the public of food safety compliance.
- Green (Pass): Establishment meets food safety standards.
- Yellow (Conditional Pass): Violations must be corrected immediately.
- Red (Closed): A health hazard has been identified, and the business must close until it is resolved.
The inspection program aims to protect residents and provide transparency about food safety in restaurants and other food establishments across Peel Region.
